Baceno is a pretty village, not far from Domodossola, located in the Antigorio Valley. The entire valley can be travelled on the paths and mule tracks over the Alpine passes of Switzerland, along the transit routes traced by the ancient inhabitants and used for millennia.
The tranquil rural and wooded landscape of the picturesque hamlets accompanies the ascent along the hamlet of Croveo, famous for the numerous witchcraft trials that led to the burning of mostly women and a few men between the 16th and 17th centuries, to the spectacular basin of Alpe Devero where the Veglia Devero Nature Park is located, created with the aim of preserving the richness of flora and fauna and the delicate and harmonious balance between man and nature.
Important historical monuments include the 13th century church of San Gaudenzio, built in Romanesque-Gothic style, which is a good starting point for a walk through the Orridi di Uriezzo, a complex of gorges in the Antigorio Valley.
