Civezzano, the village that seduces

Thanks to its strategic position, Civezzano is the best place to spend time in close contact with nature. It is for this reason that it gives tranquility and well-being to anyone who spends time in this beautiful village.
But this is only one of the reasons that drives people to visit the village, in fact, in addition to the peace and tranquility that you can breathe, Civezzano is rich in history and natural beauty that you can discover only by going there.

Historical notes
The history of Civezzano dates back to many years ago and involves many settlements. In Roman times, thanks to the Claudia Augusta Altinate road, the town became a center of economic prosperity.
In the Longobard period, churches and castles were built and today it is possible to visit them. Moreover, the town was involved in the extraction of silver in the mines of Mount Calisio and therefore its economic importance grew more and more.

What to see
One of the most interesting buildings in the town and that dominates the historical center is without a doubt the Archpriest's Church of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the oldest and most important churches in the whole region. You can't help noticing its façade, together with its bell tower, covered in red stone and with large stained glass windows.
Inside the church there are frescoes of the Renaissance and of Bassano. Of particular interest is the Bonatti Organ, a large organ restored in the 18th century belonging to Giuseppe Bonatti.

Don't miss a visit to Castel Telvana, today's seat of the municipality, which dominates from above the whole valley. It too has medieval origins and its appearance recalls different eras, as over the centuries it was renovated several times.
Another place to visit is the Fort of Civezzano, a fortified complex built to control the roads leading to Trento and protect the entrance of the gorge of the Fersina river. The visit inside is free.

What to do
To discover the naturalistic beauties that are part of Civezzano, you can take advantage of the many itineraries of the Ecomuseo Argentario, which includes some wonderful places.
One of the many is the Santa Colomba Lake that attracts many tourists especially in spring and summer and is surrounded by a dense forest that includes a playground for children. To reach it there are several routes from the shortest to the longest, both by bike and on foot.

Near the lake there is the Biotopo Le Grave where an illustrated path is realized to observe at best all the surrounding flora and fauna.

Another excursion to do to discover the history of Civezzano and the ancient silver mines is the Sentiero delle Canope. The path starts from the Santa Colomba Lake and continues into the woods in search of canopies. The excursion includes seeing with your own eyes the tunnels where the miners worked to extract the silver.

Good food
Civezzano offers its visitors not only architectural and naturalistic beauties, but also culinary ones. The products used for the preparation of the dishes are all genuine and this makes the flavors even more succulent. One of the dishes to be absolutely tasted, maybe in a typical tavern, is the Tortel di patate (potato cake). The recipe calls for finely grating the potatoes, mixing them with flour and deciding whether to bake or fry them. Then they are served together with salami, cheese and meat.
