in the historical center of the village of Isola di Capo Rizzuto, in Calabria, there are remnants of the fortified complex dating back to the sixteenth century of the Feudal Castle (in via S. Marco), erected in the medieval period was extended in 1549, by the feudatory Neapolitan Giovanni Antonio Rich; remains of quadrilateral towers speronate angular; relics of the walls of the perimetric cortina with pivellini; "clock", the door of the medieval village, surmounted by a tower of the clock back that divides the area ancient from the more modern.
In the locality of Le Castella, is located the famous fortification of sixteenth-century origin, protesa on a small peninsula on the sea. It was constructed in order to contrast the frequent invasions. Very important are the monumental quarries of blocks and rocchi column Greek Age (VI-III century a.C.) on Tip Cannon and in the area of the harbor. On the coast rises the "Torre Vecchia", a cylindrical tower, with massive creasing in stone ashlars, erected in the XVI century to the coast guard against barbaric incursions. The tower was guarded by a corporal and a soldier who had the task of monitoring day and night and indicate the presence of suspected ships with special signals: smoke during the day and the bonfire night. The access to the inside of the tower was by a rustic wooden drawbridge.
The Sanctuary of Madonna Greca is dedicated to the Patron Saint of the Island of Capo Rizzuto.
