Marano sul Panaro, in the province of Modena, rises on the left bank of the Panaro river and is part of the Terre di Castelli union. The inhabited area extends for the most part in the only flat area of the municipal area while the rest of the Municipality, including hamlets, is situated in the hilly area, and is located only 5 kilometers from Vignola and 35 kilometers from Bologna.
The village of Marano is known for the production of cherries and for culinary specialties, such as tigelle, gnocco fritto and borlenghi. Marano sul Panaro is characterized by being the last municipality of the plain and the first of the mountain, defined as "the gateway to the Apennines".
Throughout the year, several cultural and recreational events are held. Among the most important events are the National and European Festival of the Children's Theater, the Anzichèdanza dance festival and the series of meetings with the protagonists of mountaineering, adventure and exploration Action Nature, the Maranese Carnival, the Agricultural Festival, the Christmas market.
