Montefiore Conca

Montefiore Conca is a small village of Rimini hinterland, a time was an important outpost of the Malatesta family with a fortress that dominates with its imposing, the whole surrounding area.

The origins of the town are very ancient and equally obscure: Tradition sees him risen from "Crustumium" that was destroyed by the sea 3000 years ago. In 1863 he was renamed Montefiorito and only in 1917 was renamed in Montefiore.
The tradition dates back to this toponym from an ancient Jewish family in the area.

The town is dominated by the Rocca, dating back to the half of the Fourteenth Century, but recent archaeological excavations have hypothesised that this complex already existed in the XI century. On the top floor terrace you can admire the panorama that sweeps from the coasts of the Riviera Romagnola up to the Republic of San Marino.

In Montefiore is present also a shrine to Our Lady, the Cell of Bonora, that every year is visited by thousands of faithful. Next to the beauty of the landscape, monuments, in the first place the Rocca, there is the possibility to live the ancient paths to use on foot, horseback or bicycle. Paths that the resort Pedrosa lead to Gemmano and the Onferno Caves, passing for the Ventena torrent and luxuriant woods.

Montefiore is a destination not to be missed in any season of the year: in the winter imbianca that the peaks that surround it while the living crib parades among the fourteenth-century walls; in spring when the countryside reveals himself and the Easter rituals take you back in time; in summer when the squares and the courtyard of the Rocca resonate with music and voices and the feasts follow one another, between art and shows in the autumn with the aromas and flavors of the land abundant in quantity and quality, including the chestnuts and the extra virgin olive oil.
