The the Geological and Landslides Museum of Civita di Bagnoregio illustrates the processes of instability in act, the works of monitoring and stabilization, the historical landslides, the history and the fight of Civita for its survival. The exhibition path is divided into 4 meeting rooms:
Landslides: Civita di Bagnoregio and living landscape of the valley of the gullies. The evolution of the territory is particularly evident along the morphological saddle of access to Civita, that from 1764 to today has suffered a drop of about 40 meters.
Fossils: The geological history and the marine fossils of’area between Bagnoregio and the valley of the Tiber. The territory of Bagnoregio is characterized by sandy loams of marine origin of Lower Pleistocene covered by volcanic deposits of the volcanic district Vulsino.
History: Historical evolution of Civita. The historical landslides. The life of S. Bonaventura. The plastic material of Civita. From the XV century to today have been documented 134 landslides in detail described in manuscripts, chronicles, documents and various publications: comparison of these documents show a progressive reduction of the inhabited center, due to the occurrence of landslide events along the perimeter of the cliff. San Bonaventura is the character più illustrious city, has made famous the name of Civita throughout Europe. Religious, philosopher and theologian, he was bishop, cardinal and minister general of the Franciscan Order; is considered one among the mostù important biographers of Saint Francis of Assisi.
Civita:Â Video and photos to know better Civita. Through a careful historical research and archive have been recovered the projects of intervention on the slopes that have sought to protect Civita in various historical epochs.
