The Museum of Icons and the Byzantine tradition of Frascineto, a center of excellence of the Byzantine culture in Calabria, undisputed and appreciated attraction for Italians and foreigners as well as element of admiration for the lovers and enthusiasts of the sector. It was made after a careful analysis of the context italo-Albanian Byzantine tradition, which has made available the extraordinary collection of icons of the XVII-XX century, of liturgical furnishings and medals. The exhibition project has been configured on the whole urban fabric and, for the first time, goes to interpret and interact with the places of worship of the Byzantine tradition present on the territory.
Inside the Museum, the available spaces have been adapted to the needs of the representation of the various topics covered by the museum tour organized in different sections of the propaedeutic character and instructive that allow us, with the aid of media to enrich the knowledge of the ancient art of iconography expressed in all its splendour, through an impressive overview of the rich iconographic, theological and liturgical significance of high cultural value.
It is therefore an exhibition complex and fascinating dedicated to a close relationship and comparison between artistic creation and sacred space that is undoubtedly valued in its entirety, exalting the expressive force of the content.
