Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta at Montagnana

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is located in the village of Montagnana, in Veneto. In late gothic style with additions of Renaissance type, was built between 1431 and 1502 for wish of the bishop of Padua and the Community montagnanese. It has a Latin cross plan with the axis oriented according to the cardinal points. This causes at midday the sun rays strike the two balls of white stone on the facade.

Among the works present inside must be mentioned the Transfiguration of Paolo Veronese, three tables of John Buonconsiglio said the Marescalco (XVI century), a large votive canvas depicting the battle of Lepanto (1571), and two frescoes depicting David and Judith attributed to Giorgione.
