Church of Santa Chiara

The Church of Santa Chiara, in Santa Fiora, was built in 1705 and preserves a 15th-century wooden crucifix highly revered and carried in procession every 3 May, which is believed to have belonged to Sister Passitea Crogi, a religious who founded in 1610-1612 the adjoining Capuchin convent.
In the choir there is a ceramic depicting the Madonna with the child and some reliquaries, while the ex votos that were very numerous and the sacred objectivity produced by the Poor Clares themselves, currently preserved at the Diocesan Museum of Pitigliano are no longer exposed.
Since 11 October 2003, the Church of Santa Chiara has also been named after the Most Holy Crucifix and recognized as a sanctuary by Bishop Mario Meini.
