Kamarina Archaeological Museum

is constituted by three pavilions and seven exhibition halls. The first room immediately after the input is dedicated to the underwater archeology. From the wreckage of the Corinthian helmet, of the Archaic Age (VI century B.C.) are exposed some remains of large transport amphora, small ionic kylikès, Lucerne and a magnificent and rare Corinthian helmet with a hemispherical cap and paragnatidi included. Follow a elmo attic-Etruscan bronze, paragnatidi furniture with an umbo at Pigna and some amphorae of Greek type-italic. They are also exhibited a bronze statuette of the god Harpocrates from wreck mamertino, coins, weights, a group of lucerne, a stonemason, a stylus etc. from the wreckage of the columns in the III century A.D. come instead many objects of fine workmanship in bronze: a vessel carries perfumes, a thermos, a glass bottle with trash in vegetable fibers, strigili three and various currencies. Following exposure of objects coming from the wreckage of Aphrodite (III century d.C.) with a beautiful bronze statuette of Aphrodite, vases from the flow and some supports for a triclinium. From the wreckage of the six emperors are exposed 5,000 bronze coins (antoniniani), a stadera, weights, soundings and various ornamental objects. Finally from medieval wreck were exposed some tools from the horseshoer.

Exiting from the Pavilion diver, toward the outside of the courtyard, you can immediately access the Eastern Pavilion. The first room is dedicated to the various settlements in the territory in the prehistoric age, in particular in the bronze age XIX century BC-XV century b.c. by the archaic necropolis of Rifriscolaro, are exposed countless finds that furnished the burials. The room Persephone is dedicated to cults known to Kamarina. In particular here is documented the Sanctuary of Demeter and Kore, brought to light by Paolo Orsi in 1896. The Hall of the Temple of Athena has a part of the embankment of filled IV century B.C. ), the rail access to the pronaos and the massive structures of the foundation of the temple. The temple building is a cell in antis built in blocks of limestone on a crepidoma in three steps. The temple was divided into three spaces corresponding to the pronaos,to the cell and to the opistodomo.

Finally in the pavilion west we find the room of Camarina fever, which represents instead the urban history of New Kamarina, that of the classical age, from the beginning of the V century B.C., where it is highlighted the important public space of the Agora and certain urban districts with the various plateie and stenopoi. In the Hall of the Necropolis of Step Marinaro are exposed various funerary objects dating back to the V-IV century B.C.
