Bridge of San Rocco

Sandstone bridge with six arches and five sturdy pillars, arranged in a “humpback” shape, of 12th-13th century construction. At the apex are positioned two small chapels of 18th-century origin; in one is a statue of the saint, in the other is the “stone of the dead,” i.e., a glass holder.

On a keystone of the small archway on the orographic left side is carved a cross, unequal-armed, three-lobed, with devotional significance. It seems to be a sort of signature of the person who wanted to renovate and complete the construction of the bridge, most likely Abbot William, who ruled the diocese of Acqui and the Abbey of St. Quentin from 1238.
