The church, located at a lower level than the current route of the Regina state road, has a two-order façade marked by pilasters on which the terminal tympanum is set. In the middle there is an elegant stone portal above which there are two niches with statues of saints. On the left-hand side is the bell tower with a Romanesque structure and an 18th-century belfry complete with an octagonal lantern. The descent from the interior into the 12th-century crypt is suggestive, a hidden jewel in the heart of Tremezzina.
The baptistery of St John the Baptist is located in Piazza XI Febbraio a short distance from the Parish Church of Santo Stefano.
