Positioned on a picturesque natural terrace overlooking the upper part of the lake of the same name, Tremosine sul Garda is a municipality with just over 2,000 inhabitants that is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Predominantly hilly in nature, the area enjoys a very favourable climate due to its proximity to the lake, which also allows the development of typically Mediterranean vegetation despite its distance from the sea.
Characterised by an urban context of great charm, with narrow alleys that climb among a natural habitat of rare beauty, Tremosine offers the opportunity to admire a decidedly unusual and fascinating panorama of Lake Garda. In fact, from the beautiful terrace overlooking the void, 350 metres above sea level, it is possible to enjoy the impressive view of the lake.

Alpe del Garda Cooperative

It is precisely in this magical location, amidst deciduous woods and green pine forests interspersed with the foothills of the Dolomites, that the Cooperativa Alpe del Garda has been carrying out its activities for over 40 years, based on a skilful use of the excellent milk from this area.

This company is located in the hinterland of Upper Lake Garda, within the Alto Garda Bresciano Community, a naturalistic area famous for the charm of its landscapes and the genuineness of its locally produced gastronomic products.

In addition to the renowned milk from exclusively Brown Breed cattle, whose traditional processing has now become famous throughout the country, the area is renowned for the production of dairy products with inimitable flavours.

Based on the inspiring principles that animate this valley, the Alpe del Garda Cooperative has set itself the objective of enhancing the agricultural production typical of the area and comprising dairy products, cheeses, sausages and meats, all certified and coming from the area’s internal supply chain.

Thanks to the progressive diffusion of its products, which meet excellent standards of quality and genuineness, the Cooperative has been able to conquer the large-scale distribution of the foreign market, at the same time consolidating its position on the national one.

At the cheese factory, Alpe del Garda has opened a shop particularly well stocked with products belonging to the local gastronomic tradition, with an adjoining butcher’s shop. The adjacent farmhouse is also very popular, where, surrounded by greenery, it is possible to taste local dishes expertly prepared with the Cooperative’s products.

In summer, with an evocative 15 km route through woods and waterfalls, it is also possible to reach Malga Ciapa, the alpine pasture of Alpe del Garda, at 1,800 metres above sea level. Located at Passo del Tremalzo, one of the most famous mountain bike routes in Europe, in addition to the stables for the herd, it houses a lovely farmhouse with rooms in a recently renovated building.

Particularly attentive to safeguarding the ecosystem, the Alpe del Garda Cooperative has installed a modern biogas plant for the production of electricity.

The products

The products, available at the Alpe del Garda cooperative, include a wide choice of dairy products including

Formagella Tremosine: with a soft paste, it is distinguished by a fragrant flavour and a delicate aroma with herbaceous notes, and is matured with selected moulds. Its flavoured version includes the addition of olives, black truffle, wild garlic, plums and black pepper or chilli pepper. The smoked variant is particularly tasty. A lactose-free type is also available.

Garda Cheese: made from skimmed milk, it has a hard consistency after being matured for about a year, rising to 24 months in the Riserva version.

The Garda Cheese is also available in a lactose-free version.

Raw Milk Cheese: uses freshly milked and unpasteurised milk, which preserves the fragrant hints of the pastureland, making the flavour of the food absolutely unique.

Also worth mentioning are the Tortei ai formaggi, a type of fresh pasta characterised by a generous filling of mixed cheeses.
